The Power of Unrelenting Prayer
The Power of Unrelenting Prayer
Scripture: Luke 18 : 7 - 8
Praise the Lord. May the name of the Lord be glorified. I praise God for this opportunity to deliver the message before you. Servant of God and your church, I greet you in the name of our Lord. Back home we uh belong to the same church of God Kalumla. I praise God for all his blessings. Uh to share my testimony, I was born and brought up in a Jacobayat family. I was working in Mumbai for four years after my education. I came to Coachin to attend an interview where my father was at the naval base. Uh about that time is when I came to this faith. While I was there, a servant of God came and shared the gospel with me. But I could not uh respect what he said because I was very involved with the backjacay church and I was uh participating in many of its functions. Next I told him that the Lord says that your faith shall save you. That is what the Lord says. So please leave me alone. That’s what I told. And uh I sent him away. And later when I opened the Bible, I got the book of Romans. So I knew this verse was in the Bible. So that’s why I was looking into the book of Romans. Uh chapter 11 I read we read like this. Who is there who gives to the Lord beforehand and receives from him? Everything is from him, to him, and from by him. In chapter 12, we also read that submit yourself unto him. And also there is the verse that says to submit and surrender uh your bodies to the Lord. Then I understood it’s not what we give to the Lord but ourselves we give unto worship. And one of my friend called invited me and I went to a meeting of the Mama church. It was a meeting testimony testimony and I stood up and I told the Lord that I surrender myself for you. I had three experiences there. I felt that a bondage that was holding me tight, it loosening up. And then there was a great joy that came into my heart. And third, I felt I understood that the Lord has uh forgiven all my sins until then. And the Lord gave me the experience of the redemption. I went secretly to Kumbad and the servant of the Lord Pastor K. Abraham was there and uh he arranged somebody and they baptized us. and three youngsters we sat together and prayed for the Holy Spirit infilling and we received the Holy Spirit’s anointing and then we started the fellowship at our own place. And then I many people came to us saying that they wanted to get baptized. So I took them to Kongum prayer and they got baptized under pastors there. But all those seekers finally came out. So finally eventually we ended up becoming opening and declared ourselves as Pentecostals and we came out and to this day the Lord has faithfully sustained us. The Lord has never forsaken us and I praise God for that. The Lord enabled me to work in his presence for the last 52 years. However, for the last two years because of physical infirmities, uh we retired from the ministry and we were attending our local church worshiping the Lord. Today morning I would uh I would uh lean on the Lord to uh read a verse from the Bible and share his thoughts with us. Luke chapter 18 verse 7 and 8. No. Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay to help him? I tell you that he will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find the faith on earth? This is a statement that the Lord says after he shared the parable. We read, “Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day and night?” In the book of Colossians, we know that the faithful, the word faithful means the children of God. In a book of Philippians, we read the separated ones for the Lord. So let us understand that the church of God are a group of people who do a separated life. We cannot go after the ways of the world because we are called to be the bride of the lamb. The Lord called us to make his bride and we live a separated life for him. So I praise God today morning remembering all the saints of the Lord. Let us all bless or praise the Lord. May the name of the Lord be glorified. Before making this statement, Jesus gives a parable there. The Lord says about a judge who was unjust and there were he never feared God or respected a man. And in that same city there was a widow and she would always kept pestering the judge because of her problem. because she had an strong opponent in that land against her. So she was really troubled by this person after her. So that is why she used to pester this judge. Hallelujah. We see the word opponent in many parts of the Bible. In the book of Samuel, we read Hana has an adversary. We see a penina who would always mock and make fun of Hana who didn’t have any children. One thing I’m so glad is that even in spite of this lady making so much trouble for her, Hana never fought her. Instead, she went to the Lord and always cried out to the Lord and fasted. Oh, who is always Hallelujah praying before the Lord. She has a testimony. One day my Lord will deliver me. If we like the Lord Jesus Christ spend our time before our father in prayer instead of fighting our adversaries know one thing that the Lord will one day surely deliver us. Even when Hana is praying so bitterly in the presence of God in the temple, uh priest Eli rebukes her thinking that she was full of wine. Eli rebukes her that your wine be out of you. She was insulted before everybody but she did not respond in kind to Eli. She told her Eli, “Oh, oh Lord, I haven’t taken any wine.” I was pouring out my com my prayer my prayer and uh my pain before the Lord. immediately Eli gives her a prophecy. Next year you will have a son. Oh, poor Hana believed that and she went back to her house. Even though the person who gave the prophecy was not right, the Mahana who believed that prophecy, God blessed her. I praise God for giving Hana the answer for her prayers. I praise God. Now we read again in the uh epistle of Peter. In the book of Peter we read that our adversary the devil like a lion he is roaring around looking for whom to devote. There is the work of the enemy, the devil, against the servants of the children of God. We can see that the same devil was after Jesus Christ till he died on the cross. Many times he tried to be a stumbling block before Jesus. Many times he tried even to stop Jesus Christ from going up on the cross. Hallelujah. I praise God for my victorious Lord who overcame the devil and is seated at the right hand of God. Hebrews 5:7. Let us read. We read what Jesus got victory over. During his earthly life, he offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death. And he was heard because of his reverence. The reason that why the Lord was victorious is because he always offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears before his father. We also need to understand one thing. If you want to be victorious by like the Lord, we have to spend time with the tears and supplications before the Lord. If we pray with the tears in our eyes, the Lord will listen to our prayers and give us answers. I praise God for this opportunity the Lord is giving us to pray with the tears. I praise for God for giving me the opportunity to pray for this congregation every day. Every early morning 3 or 4:00 when we get up we wake up and we pray we always remember this church even though we do not know all the families individually. I praise God for seeing the answers for our prayers. I praise God for giving us answers for our prayers. We know that when the prophet goes to King Hezekiah and tells him that your time is up and you need to set your house in order, We can see a prayer there when he turns his face to the wall and with tears he prays. I praise God. Before the prophet leaves the courtyard, the Lord speaks back to him. He turns around and goes back to and gives him a new message. Praise the Lord. I believe that. And I know that even though the prophecy might come against you that saying that you are going to die, if you pray to the Lord with tears, the Lord is a God who will change that. The prophet here is a person of real integrity. But yet again when Hezekiah prays, the Lord extends his life another 15 years. I praise God that our Lord is faithful. He is enough to stretch forth his hand in our favor. I would like to share a testimony of mine. When I was serving the Lord in the land of called military, I there used to uh I have an infection. I always say have an infection in my throat. Uh when it starts uh I can drink a few little water the first day two or for the next two or three days I cannot even drink anything or speak uh until it this boil burst on like on the fourth or fifth day then only I could drink anything. Uh I used to pray to the Lord on this and many but would come and check talk to me uh discouraging me. Uh one one time I had to go to this convention to preach. I tried to send many others but nothing worked out. Uh I asked the Lord what should I do and the Lord told me to go. Uh it was just this was the third day I went there but even after reaching there I could not open my mouth or speak or drink anything. And the servant of God there in that church has started the meeting. He suddenly started praying in the spirit for a while after praying that Lord you need to fill the the servant of God with a new anointing today. I started praising the Lord and suddenly this boil uh ruptured itself and I went out and spit it out. I came back and I strongly delivered the message that day. After 1985, after that experience to this day, that cancer has never came back. Whatever your illness is, the Lord is good enough to heal you. H the Lord has enabled me to witness many healings uh in my family and in the church. The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. Let us praise the Lord that he is able to heal any of our illnesses. He is good. I shall praise him. Isaiah 31 says how he received the healing. 38 verse4 let us read I see I cried out like a a 38:14 I chirped like a swallow or a crane. I moan like a dove. We read he chured like a swallow. We sometimes use this word for the talk of our children. teachers when we were in school in our days when before the teacher would come to the class all the kids would be chirping with each other. That is what we used to this word for. When the teacher comes to the class and he would uh slap this cane on the table, that’s when everybody goes silent. Here says it was not without anything. I ch like a swallow before him. I cried out loud in his presence night and day. A child of God who would chirps before the Lord. The Lord is good enough to heal you. Our Lord is not a God who would turn away from you. He always acts for you. I praise God that is good for me. Two birds are mentioned here. Swallow or a crane. Asia says that the swallow and a crane knows the time when he has to come back. We also should remember when we chirp like a swallow or a crane, we should also come back to the Lord from where we have fallen. The Lord receives a prayer with the sanctification. We again read, I mourn like a dove. The D, whether it’s night or day, it always keeps mourning before the Lord. Even while it’s sleeping, it makes some sounds. In the book of Song of Solomon, we read, “Even while I’m sleeping, my soul is awake.” Even though I am sleeping, my spirit is awake. We we speak in tongues even when we are sleeping we don’t we don’t we preach don’t we sing in the spirit those who have that experience say praise the lord let us have that experience like a dove and mourn before our lord even in the night times. I chirp like a swallow or a crane. I moan like a dog. My eyes grew weak looking upward and the Lord delivered him. I praise the Lord. The name of the Lord be glorified. One more verse. Let me like to read. Isaiah 62 6 and 7. Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen on your walls. There will never be silent day or night. There is no rest for you who remind the Lord. Do not give him rest until he establishes and makes Jerusalem the place of the earth. Do not give the rest to the Lord. I praise God for the children of God who spends the time in prayer without giving rest to the Lord. The Lord will never send anybody who cries before him empty-handed. I praise God for that. There is a hugger crying out in the wilderness. She’s crying before the Lord that she doesn’t want to see the death of her son. The Lord receives that prayer who where the mother is crying out and the child is crying out to the Lord. There is one reason for the Lord to uh accept her prayer because one time before also she went away from the house. At that time the Lord revealed himself to her and asked her a question. Where are you going hagger and where are you coming from? And she tells the Lord that I am running away from the house of Abraham because Sarah is very abusive. But then at the time the Lord said you go back and submit yourself to her because her time reason is it is not the time to run away. The the Lord will do it in his time and I praise God for his faithfulness. When it was time for her to be blessed, Abraham and Sarah gets together and sends her out of the house. It is at that time the child is crying out and he is facing death. When she is crying out, the Lord says, “I have heard the cries of the child and do not fear. Here I have opened the spring for you. Give the water to your child.” Oh children of God, those who cry out for your generations, there is a God who listens to your prayer. I praise God for a God who always receive the prayer for your generations. I thank this church and the uh pastors for the time they have given me. May the Lord bless you all.
