Genoito Moi:Surrendering to God’s Plan
Genoito Moi:Surrendering to God’s Plan

Scripture: Luke 1 :38
I praise God that I was able to be in the midst of this time with the word of God. God has given me time, I will remain in that time itself. As said, before us we have…After that we have to see where it goes.
And we have to see the smart message with story.Usually I begin my messages with a small story.
So this message I am going to bring a connection… Many things that happened in our life…
I say it almost like an ending of certain occasions in our life. The first time I came to Arizona was in 2007.
First came to… it was 2007. Dennis and I drove and came then.
That was in October or November. It was very good, nice, good people were there.
Genoito Moi: Surrendering to God’s Plan
In 2008 I came alone.2008 came… That was for a special mission, for a special matter.
It was in July. But there was terrible rain here. When I landed here immediately the airport closed.
Three or four others who came with me in another flight could not land. After that Shiny and I came once more.
That was summer time.I felt when we got down from the flight it was like entering into a furnace.
I do not remember that year. Then we came in 2011.Again in 2011 we got an opportunity to come.
That was in the month of April. There was a special reason for coming.Time had come for birth.
I think we came at the end of April. Before the birth we went back again. Why we did not stay until the birth, or why we did not come close to that time, when I think and try to understand, I cannot understand. At that time another thing also happened. We had not told Papa or Mummy or anyone about it.But Shiny was three months pregnant.
After three months later we came to know.Papaji said, “Why has Shiny become a little fat? What happened?”
Since this was the first grandchild, we did not want to take away their joy. After three or four days, after one week, we returned back.Even now I think why we could not see the child and go.Then we thought maybe because it was the three-month pregnancy period.Shiny was three months pregnant then. There were difficulties of that condition.
Maybe because of that we returned. In our life an ordinary man may make ten thousand decisions in one day.
Some things we do automatically.Small small things — what to eat — we do not think deeply about them usually.
Which cloth to wear, which makeup, which dress matches — all these go automatically. But there are some decisions…
We are very anxious about them.Only after much thinking those decisions are taken. And many times ninety percent of those decisions will be foolishness. If I look at my decisions of the past 25 years, ninety percent are foolishness.
But we took them. Why do I say that?We study history. We learn from history from the mistakes we made.Like from history.
Like that in all our lives also, each thing happens like that.So all the decisions we take may not become right.
All the decisions we take may not come into fulfillment. So there is no use worrying about it.
Don’t worry. But how do we correct all that and come out?And come out…Usually in our place they say, for the egg of a hen sitting on eggs to hatch, normally it needs days.Chicken — 21 days.We used to go every day and look, to know up to what stage it had come. That egg will never hatch like that.So we usually take decisions, and keep taking decisions, and in the end many things go into many different directions.Hallelujah.
In such decisions many times we blame ourselves. At such times we blame others for it.Sometimes we accept that decision as something God gave. Many times only when situations come that we cannot handle, in the end we say it is the will of God.
Let us read one verse.
Gospel of Luke chapter 1 verse 38.
“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it happen to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.
Pastor Thomas earlier gave a very good background about the birth of Jesus Christ.
He spoke about the social background of that time.
He spoke about the political background.
I see all that closely in this time.
Today in this time I want to speak about a decision Mary took in her life.
There are many thoughts among young people about this.
Young people who speak intellectually argue about this.
This is not something God forced upon Mary.
This is not something God pushed onto Mary’s shoulders.
How can we understand that?
When we read that verse clearly, when we study the translation, we can see like this.
In Greek it is written like this.
And Mary says…
Expression of submission.
We see a surrender and desire in Mary’s life here.
Next one: “Hey doule kuriou.”
Last night pastor spoke about doulos.
Those who came yesterday night…
Nobody came?
Servant, slave.
But what is written here?
Doule.
Doule means feminine form — maidservant.
“Doule kuriou.”
Next is very important.
Translation — “genoito moi” — “to me.”
Let it happen to me.
But when we go into the grammar we can understand…
The mood used there is optative mood.
The mood used is objective… optative.
When we say optative mood, its function is to express desire or submission.
Either surrender or desire.
In grammar there are four or five types of moods.
Here Luke wants to say something using a specific word.
Greek is a very rich language.
There is much vocabulary.
Very mature language.
The same words are used in many ways.
Next phrase: “according to your word.”
After that the angel departed from Mary.
Its meaning is a complete submission of identity and personal will.
“Be to me according to your word.”
Let it happen according to God’s promise, not according to my circumstance.
There were many expectations among the Jews about the birth of Jesus.
There was so many expectation about the birth of Messiah.
About the Anointed One coming.
There were many prophecies about it.
We can see a progression of that prophecy in the Bible.
In Book of Genesis chapter 3, when Moses saw in faith, it says the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head.
Moses wrote that in faith.
When Genesis was written, or when this happened, Moses was not alive there.
But when God showed it to Moses, Moses wrote it by faith.
Then its progression comes like this.
When we come into Isaiah…
Approximately 700 years before the birth of Jesus, Isaiah says:
A virgin shall conceive and bear a son.
There we can see the transition from the seed of the woman to the virgin.
Hallelujah.
But look at this virgin.
Look at God’s word.
It does not say Mary will conceive and bear a son.
But there it is clearly written: a virgin shall conceive and bear a son.
When Isaiah prophesied, Mary was not even alive.
Mary did not know whether she would do this or accept this.
When saying virgin, it could be any virgin.
The word could be anybody.
Hallelujah.
Then we can see that progression coming closer in the New Testament.
I will say that later.
But here when we read the verses in Luke chapter 1…
The angel entered to her and said, “Greetings, favored one, the Lord is with you.”
She was troubled at that saying and wondered what kind of greeting this was.
Some say many women at that time expected that Jesus would be born through them.
There is no clear evidence for that.
If that were so, there would not have been fear in this verse.
The verse says: “Mary, do not fear, for you have found favor with God.”
When Gabriel presents this, it says you have received God’s grace.
You will conceive and bear a son and call His name Jesus.
That is where Isaiah 7:14 is fulfilled.
He will become great…
Skipping…
His kingdom will have no end.
When an angel comes and says this before a young girl of around 13 to 15 years old, surely she would have been afraid.
The engagement had already happened.
We always hear that engagement there is equal to marriage.
Immediately Mary asks a very important question.
Mary asks the angel a very meaningful question.
Look — she is proving there that she is a virgin.
“How will this happen since I do not know a man?”
The angel gives a clear answer:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the holy one born will be called the Son of God.”
After saying this the angel should have gone.
But we can see the angel giving Mary time there.
To connect this and link this, the angel tells another incident.
“Your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in old age, and this is the sixth month.”
“For nothing will be impossible with God.”
Only after saying all these things and giving another example and sign does the angel say all this.
Then Mary gives the answer we read.
There Mary’s responsibility does not end.
When we carefully sit and read, we can understand some important things.
In those days Mary arose and hurried to the hill country, to a town of Judah.
She hurried greatly.
How quickly she reaches there — to Elizabeth’s house.
We are speaking about a distance of 70 to 100 miles.
Nothing is said there about Mary’s parents.
The moment she heard this vision and counsel of God, when another person in her own family had a similar experience happen, Mary runs to the person who received that vision.
This journey would take four or five days.
Hallelujah.
Even though the matter was clearly said, still Mary reached Elizabeth’s house.
In those days they would travel in caravans.
Cannot go alone.
Many travel risks and many matters are there.
That little girl…
Believing the word of God she received as truth…
And more than that, to see directly the experience that happened in the life of another person in her family, she goes there.
She go to share joy and vision with some family.
Mary reached the house.
Maybe she knocked the door.
Maybe the door opened.
Immediately Mary greeted.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb.
Filled with the Holy Spirit she cried out loudly.
Now the second part of God’s word enters.
Mary is going to receive an exact example of what the angel said.
Mary is going to accept that promise.
Listen to this prophecy.
“Blessed are you among women.”
Elizabeth knew none of this.
Because the Holy Spirit was inside Elizabeth, when she saw another person filled with the Holy Spirit, prophecy began there.
When two believers meet nowadays what do we say?
If it was years before they would speak about ministry, house visits, church work.
Now what do we ask?
“What is your reel handle?”
“Please follow.”
“I need likes.”
“Press the bell button.”
That is what we promote after seeing.
No spiritual things are spoken.
That is the change of the times.
Because of that spiritual fervor has been lost.
Then both started prophesying to one another.
“You are blessed among women.”
Elizabeth by the Holy Spirit recognized Jesus inside Mary.
“And blessed is the fruit of your womb.”
She did not say:
“Mary, next time I will send a flight for you.”
Or “Don’t run so much through Judea.”
Or “I will send you to a better land.”
Nothing like that.
She did not say:
“Mary, the one inside you — since your husband is a carpenter, I will make him a great builder.”
No such prophecy was spoken.
The Holy Spirit inside was speaking to the Holy Spirit.
She says:
“The mother of my Lord has come to me.”
Elizabeth knew through the Holy Spirit that Jesus was inside Mary.
Next verse:
“When the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby inside me leaped with joy.”
Hallelujah.
This jumping of babies inside…
When we were children and our mother’s younger sisters came pregnant after marriage, we would place our hands and ears and listen.
“Blessed is she who believed.”
Mary did not think about all that she would have to face in life.
She accepted the word that came from God saying let it happen exactly like that.
Then Mary says:
“My soul magnifies the Lord.”
When a young sister sat in her house and prayed…
When she surrendered to God…
When she asked God questions and surrendered…
History changed through her life.
Through the life of a small girl, a 15-year-old, 18-year-old, 20-year-old sister, the world changed.
The direction of the gospel changed.
She did not ask mother, father, brothers, anyone.
She asked only God.
She clearly told God:
“God, I am your servant. Let it happen to me according to your will.”
Look here.
John the Baptist came as the forerunner of Christ.
Now two babies are in the wombs of two mothers in the same house.
Mary stayed in Elizabeth’s house for three months.
I clearly believe they spoke many things to one another during those three months.
Maybe Jesus said:
“John, this is what is going to happen to you.”
Because the Holy Spirit was communicating between them.
When we read the verses there we can understand some things.
Faith in the word of God.
A condition of surrender before the word of God.
Hallelujah.
Without fear, without being afraid, we can see Mary presenting her decision before God.
Mary stayed about three months and returned home.
Elizabeth was in her sixth month when Mary came.
Mary stayed there three months.
Before John the Baptist was born, Mary left Elizabeth’s house and came back to Joseph.
Even we would think:
“At least after one more week she could have seen the baby and gone.”
But somehow… I do not know why… I have thought about this many days.
But one thing I think is:
By then three months had passed and visible changes had begun in Mary’s body.
Now there is another five or six day journey.
“How will I go and meet Joseph now?”
Maybe this is why Mary hurriedly left Elizabeth’s house.
During those needed three months she ministered to Jesus and Elizabeth.
Now the crucial part comes.
Until now Mary may not have thought about anything else.
Now the most important part of her life is before her.
Humanly, how am I going to bear this?
How am I going to face this in a human way?
I am a young woman engaged to be married.
If I say this is caused by God, who will believe?
Mary believed her married life was over there.
Joseph was a mature man.
A person able to make good decisions.
When this is told to Joseph, how will he see this fall in her life?
The answer is found in Gospel of Matthew chapter 1.
Mary was worried not knowing what was going to happen in the coming months of her life.
Matthew 1:18:
Before they came together, she was found pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
Joseph being righteous and unwilling to expose her publicly, intended to divorce her secretly.
The supporting verse is in Deuteronomy.
Here Joseph is called righteous.
Why does God call Joseph righteous?
Hallelujah.
The angel appeared to Joseph also and explained everything clearly.
Joseph had two choices.
He could accept or reject.
Look carefully:
The people who come into our life do not come without God knowing.
Whatever circumstances or people enter our life, nobody enters without God sending.
Without God sending nobody can come into our life.
If it had been someone else instead of Joseph, this could have happened differently.
But because God chose Joseph, and Joseph was righteous, he intended to put her away secretly.
Two choices:
Publicly or secretly.
If publicly, according to law the woman should be stoned.
If secretly, only a few witnesses and a reason are enough.
No need for more explanation.
So Joseph decided like that so that Mary would not suffer physically.
If needed, Joseph himself was ready to bear the accusation.
That is why Joseph is called righteous.
While Joseph was thinking this way, the angel came before him.
The angel said all this happened by the Holy Spirit.
Then the next verse says:
“A virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel.”
History does not end there.
This is only the beginning.
When we think about the later things we can understand like this:
When Elizabeth prophesied by the Holy Spirit, she said,
“A sword will pierce through your soul also.”
Mary who received this in her heart raised Jesus.
If Mary had said no, history would have changed.
Mary had an option.
She could have said:
“No, I do not want this. I am not ready.”
Then God would have chosen another person.
The verse says God’s plans are perfect.
But He needs the cooperation of humans.
If Mary had not been ready, Jesus would have been born through another virgin.
Then the blessings Mary received would have gone to another person.
Mary said:
“If Joseph does not accept me, I am ready.”
“If society blames me, it is okay.”
But when Mary said:
“God, I am ready to accept Your word…”
Hallelujah…
Mary did not think about the things that would later come before her.
Because it was God’s word, she believed it in her heart and accepted it.
That is why even today we say:
“Mary, blessed are you among women.”
Even today Mary is known as the mother of Jesus.
Because one person sacrificed her life, it became deliverance for the world.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.”
A vessel was needed for that.
Mary became ready.
Mary accepted it in her life.
That became deliverance both for Mary’s life and for the world.
How many times have we heard the counsel of God?
How many times have we said Hallelujah?
But it never came into fulfillment.
We can think:
Why did the things God told us not come into fulfillment?
Because we were not yet ready to grasp and accept the rhema word of God exactly as it was spoken.
Today let us tell God like Mary said.
Hallelujah.
What did Mary say?
“Let it happen to me according to Your will.”
Done to me according to Your word.
Let that happen to me.
Let that happen to me.
Whatever comes from Your mouth, O God, let that happen exactly.
By saying that, Mary became a life that rewrote world history.
Hallelujah.
Like Mary, let our spiritual life also be rewritten.
Let it happen to me.
May God help us through these words.
Hallelujah.
Very blessed.
