Keys To Your Miracle
Keys To Your Miracle
Scripture: John 6
Praise the Lord.
I’m so excited to be with with all of you. And you might think it is because of my sister Grace and Rajie and Josiah and Noah or my parents or even Molly aunty, but it is because as your church tagline says, you come here but you leave as family and I have been here before. So I consider all of you as my family. I’m so excited to talk to you about a word that has blessed my heart and my life for over 20 or maybe now even 30 years. We as Christians many times we come to a place where we think a word called miracle is no longer for us. a woman of God who said her name was Katherine Kman and she said I believe in miracles because I believe in Godatherman.
Now because I use the word miracle maybe you might be thinking that I’m here to talk about prosperity theology. But as we went through the testimonies, we heard about how God has performed miracles in so many of your lives over the last year, the weeks, etc. What I want to share with you this morning or this afternoon is keys to your miracle. And for that I want to bring your attention to a passage that all of you are familiar. Even probably Josiah and Noah are familiar as well. Jesus during his time here he performed so many different miracles. But there is one miracle that is recorded in all four gospels and that is Jesus feeding the 5,000 minimum 5,000 because we know all of that. You know, possibly 5,000 men because there could be women, there could be children. We know all the details of that miracle. So because of that, I want to turn your attention to John’s gospel and chapter 6 where we see that miracle recorded in John’s gospel. If you’re wondering why I’m using John’s gospel, because my name is John, my my grandfather’s name was John or Johan. My father’s middle name is John, middle name.
So I love John’s gospel.
But you know the John’s gospel talks about the word believe so many different times. For example, John chapter 1 verse 12, for those who believed in his name, he gave the authority to become children of God. Or we all know John 3:16. For God so loved the world that all you know he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Or you might be familiar with John chapter 11 where Jesus tells if you believe you shall see the glory of God.
So the word believe is part of all of our life from uh the time that we got to know Jesus. So let’s run to John’s gospel chapter 6 and verse one onwards with regard to how Jesus fed the 5,000. We know the story. So I I’m not going to read that but as we go through each verse I want to give you few keys to a miracle. You can take it as keys to your miracle or if you want you can take it as ABCs to a miracle. You can look at it however you want. But the reason why I am sharing this is at the end of the or at least by the end of the message where your heart will be stirred to asking God or to seek God for a miracle in your life. So in verse number one, sometime after this, Jesus turned to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee, that is a sea of Tibarius. And a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. Then Jesus went upon a mountain side and sat down with his disciples. The Jewish Passover festival was near. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philillip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” Verse 1- 5 is what I read. The first key to your miracle is assess your situation so that you become specific. Why should I assess my situation? Because many of times we pray, oh Lord bless me, pray or pray for you know me for that I get a job. But the question is when you assess your situation and when you become specific your situation tends to change because we are all good at praying general prayers. But the question is what exactly is your need? Is it wisdom for a career decision? Is it peace in your marriage? Is it provision for your family? Is it direction for your children? Or is it freedom from death? Faith does not deny the problem. But faith but faith names the problem and it brings to Jesus. Here Jesus also did the same thing. There are so many people but Jesus is giving a specific situation in verse number five. Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat? The situation is very specific. These people are here. They need to eat. Assess your situation so that you become specific. A specific need can become a special testimony. So the first point is assess your situation so that you become specific. That is what Jesus asked different people what do you want or the prophet asked what do you need and she said I need to be healed. So you know it becomes specific and it takes you further. The next one in the second point is the letter B believe God for a miracle. Verse six says he asked that this only to test him for he already had in mind what he was going to do. When Jesus asked Philillip, he knew he what was going to happen. Many of us are good at being a calculator. We calculate everything in our life. We calculate our salary. We calculate our rent. We calculate our monthly payments. We calculate our situation. We we are calculators not only for our lives, we calculate for others also. Planning is wise. But our calculations must never become bigger than our faith. God is not limited by your age or your bank balance or your background. God does not even care about your English. But we tend to calculate, oh, I have this problem. I have this weak weakness. I have this issue. What can I do? But Jesus said he knew what he was going to do. Believe in God for a miracle. I want to move on to the ne next one point. Third one. Confess your cap incap your incapability to meet your need. Jesus asked Philillip and he said, “Oh, you know, not not even a year salary is good enough to even give them a bite. a kid with five loaves of bread and two fishes. But still, what is that? I’m sure the situation is very common in our own lives too. What is my small salary among so much of expenses? What is my qualification you know among all these people who can speak better English? What is my qualification with people who have such big rich heritage? Let let us try to become a bit more spiritual to what is my prayer among so many different problems. What is my little faith in the midst of such a big storm? The confession is not a weakness but surrender. When we stop pretending to be enough, we discover that Jesus is enough. Amen.
Amen.
Jesus is enough.
When you confess your incapability, you understand Jesus is enough. Praise the Lord.
Let’s move on to the next one. The letter D. Do what you can to meet the need. After Andrew said that, here Jesus says, verse number 10, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down. About 5,000 men were there. do what you can to meet the need. Philip was a pessimist or he just said, “Oh, you know, this is not possible.” Philip. Andrew said, “We have something, but this is not enough. But you know, we see the goodness of Andrew too. He went around and he found someone with something. But Jesus told the disciples to get all the people to sit down and get them organized. They could not multiply the food but they could do some organizing. This is very important for our generation. Why? Because we think faith is about being lazy. Oh, I’ll just sit down. God will just bring it down. Because didn’t God do that for the people when they were going through the wilderness? Yes. Prayer is not an excuse for inaction. Trusting God does not mean refusing responsibility. Do what you can. Apply for the job. Apply for that promotion. Study well. Save wisely. Learn the skill. Save. Save wisely. Do what you can. We want God to do a miracle. We believe in God for a miracle. We confess our incapability. Oh, I cannot do anything. But we see the key is do what you can to meet the need. It might be to learn a new skill. But we say, “Oh, I don’t have time.” Find time. Discipline becomes very important. If God wants to use you, we need discipline in our life. In our life, we need We say, “Oh, you know, I can I don’t I don’t I cannot find time to pray. Oh, I don’t have time to read the word.” Do you know what is the key to waking up early? Go to bed early. Do what you can to meet your need. You may not be able to do everything, but you can do something. God often begins the miracle with your obedience. Praise the Lord.
Do something. Do what you can to meet the need. It may not be much, but do what you can.
The next one is the letter E. Exhibit thankfulness before the miracle arrives. Verse 11 says, “Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. Before the bread multiplied, Jesus gave thanks. Jesus did not complain. All these 12 disciples, they did not bring enough food. Jesus did not say, “Oh, Andrew, you only found a boy with just five loaves of bread.” He did not reject it because it was ordinary. He gave thanks before the crowd was fed. Can we thank God before the situation changes? Before the loan is cleared, before the relationship is restored, before the child come back to the Lord, before the business grows, before the answer becomes visible. Thankfulness before the miracle is a way a declaration of faith. In a world of comparison, gratitude protects the heart. It is easy for for us to say, “Oh, they have that, they have this, but I don’t have this.” But it is a different heart and a spirit to say, “Lord, thank you for what you have given me.” Sometimes we say, “Oh, my relationship is very much in trouble.” But at least you have someone to even call as, “Oh, I have, you know, I have au relationship must be struggling. But do you know that here in United States how many people we find that they don’t even have a single person to call as their family not even for their funeral left all by themselves but we are struggling. Oh my relationship is not good. But as we talk about this, understand our God is a God who can restore relationship. Or sometimes you say, “Oh, I don’t have that biggest job, but I have the job that God has given me.” Now, exhibit thankfulness before the miracle arrives. Gratitude turned small beginnings into a holy ground. Moving on to the next one, the letter F. Forget the insults of the devil and the naysayers. I’m sure that when Jesus was getting or all the disciples were getting people to sit down and then it is possible devil could be saying oh what are you going to do with five loaves of bread. It could be easy to say, don’t you see the number of people sitting in front of you? The similar thing with you when you’re thinking about a miracle or you’re praying for a miracle, you hear voices from others or from within yourself which says, “Oh, it is not possible.” The enemy might whisper, “You are too late. The enemy might say, “Oh, you’re too old.” Or might say, “You have failed too many times.” People might say, “Who are you to dream so big?” Society may say, “Oh, you have to prove yourself.” The fear within you might say, “Oh, don’t even try. You will be embarrassed.” Because we we as Indians, we have that mentality or what if this does not work? My reputation my fame or my family’s fame. So, it is okay. I just stay where I am. But Jesus did not lead the meeting with doubt. He did not let scarcity preach the me message. Do not let negative voices speak louder than God’s promises. Do not let anything to define anything else to define your future. When Jesus is present, impossibility does not become the final word. Jesus is the final word. Jesus is the final word.
Forget the voices of the naysayers in your life. Moving on, the letter G. Give God something so that he can multiply. The this miracle began with that boy’s small lunch. It was just simple food. It was not impressive. God often starts with what you have in your hand. You might be wondering, “What do I have? Give him your time. Give him your talent. Give him your education. Give him your savings. Give him your business. Give him your prayer. Give him your small beginning. What remains in your hand may be will be small. But when you give it in your God’s hands, it multiplies. What is placed in God’s hands become a blessing to many. Bible says do not despise small beginnings. Give God something so that he can multiply. Surrender is the place where multiplication begins. The keys to a miracle in your life. God can do miracle in your life.
The question is what is the miracle that you’re looking for? I want to end with one final key. Letter H. Have reverence to the work God has done. Have reverence for the work that God has done. Last night we heard about the importance of giving honor. Last night we heard about the importance of giving honor. Reverence to what God does in your life is extremely important. Why am I saying so? Because verse 12 says, “When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted. And that is what they did. So they gathered every bits and pieces. We know they collected 12 baskets full. Jesus did not allow the miracle to be treated carelessly. The overflow was gathered with reverence. Many a times you and I know that when God did a miracle after that we just became even more lazy. God gave you a miracle and then suddenly, oh, I don’t have time for God or I don’t have time to come to church because my work is busy. When God blesses you, do not forget him. When he gives you the job, when he restores your relationship, when he brings increase to your life, have reverence for the miracle that God has done for you. Use the overflow wisely. We heard about the keys to the miracle. Now what I want to ask you is who is in need for a miracle? God wants to see what you have in your hand. I see the worship team is right behind me right now. What I want to do right now is I want all every eye be closed. What is the miracle that you want for you? Your situation is unique just for yourself. It is unique just for you. It can be a miracle of healing. It can be a miracle of provision. It can be a miracle for restoration. It might be a miracle for new beginnings. Whatever the miracle that you need, but if you need a miracle right now with every eye being closed, with every eye being closed. If you need a miracle, I want you to stand up in the Lord’s presence. We are not looking at if anyone else is standing up, but if you need a miracle, stand up in the presence of God. Your miracle is unique. Whatever it is, I encourage you to dream big. God is not done with you yet. God wants to do something bigger than what you have seen until now. It might be a visa situation. It might be your job. Maybe you are seeking God. Lord, use me more. Whatever it is, as you stand, I want to pray for you. As we heard, assess your situation so that you become specific. Believe in God for a miracle. Confess your incapability to meet your need. Do what you can to meet the need. Exhibit thankfulness before the miracle arrives. Forget the insults of others. Give God something that he can multiply. I’m going to pray for you. You speak to God because God is standing right next to you. The Holy Spirit is right there next to you. Father, you see everyone who is standing up right now. You see their needs. You know their situation, Lord, as they pour out their hearts before you. I pray, oh Lord, that you will perform a miracle in their life. Lord, I pray that you will bring forth a multiplication anointing upon them. I pray, oh Lord, for a multiplication in their life. I pray for restoration in their life. I pray for your miracle to be revealed in their life. Lord, Lord, as your word declares, oh Lord, you do more than what we think or imagine because that’s how you do things. So we thank you for the miracle. Father, I pray for this church. Father, I pray for a miracle for this church as well. May they bring joy to this neighborhood, to this the city. Oh Lord, Father, may they be become a source for miracles for people that they connect with. May you receive the glory. May you receive the honor. May you receive all praise. Because you are good and you always do good things. I pray for everyone who is here right now. Father, I pray that they will start dreaming good dreams and new dreams for you. I pray that they will work towards it. the Lord with with the help of the Holy Spirit you will multiply and it will become even bigger we give you praise in Jesus mighty name I pray
